Top Five Most Anticipated Tech Releases for 2011
2010 was a banner year for technology. This was the year of the iPad, 3D television and motion controls in basically every video game system. Keeping that in mind I expect no less from the coming year’s new tech wonders. Here are my top five most anticipated releases for the New Year.
1.) Chrome OS notebooks
Google announced Chrome OS was not ready for the public just yet, but they did release a beta version to a select few. From what I’ve heard it was far from ready for the everyday consumer. Samsung and Acer plan on releasing notebooks running Google’s desktop OS sometime in 2011.
2.) Google TV
Google TV-based hardware was expected to roll out at some point in January 2011, but rumor has it that Google asked their hardware partners to slow down releasing any device using Google TV. Apparently, Google TV needs some refinement. Still, I would bet money that this promising product will hit the shelves at some point in the coming year.
3.) Sony Playstation phone
The worst-kept secret of the year has yet to be released, so I’m hoping to see it in 2011. With Android reinvigorating gaming on phones, it only seems natural that a dedicated gaming phone would arrive–and that should be Sony’s PlayStation Phone. Hopefully the shaky past relationships between Sony Ericsson and U.S. telecoms won’t delay the release of this product here in the states.
4.) Phones with Dual Core processors
Cell Phones have become tiny computers that fit in your back pocket. The first dual-core phone, the LG Optimus 2X, is expected in 2011 and will probably be one of many in that category. Dual-core phones should mean even more sophisticated applications running on phones and speedier performance for apps that push the limits of what a phone can do.
5.) Honeycomb Tablets
First Google showed off a Honeycomb tablet, and then Motorola teased its own tablet running Honeycomb, so it’s only a matter of time before they actually come to fruition. With Android becoming more tailored for the tablet market, iPad might actually have some competition this year.
